Brazing is a common method of joining two or more metals by heating the base metal and adding a filler metal into the joint.
Depending on the applications, these filler metals can be made of materials such as copper, aluminum, stainless steel, silver, etc. Some of these filler metals are capable of joining dissimilar metals as well.

Soldering is a process which is used for joining two or more metals together without melting the base metal. A heat source is used to heat the base metal, while a filler is added to complete the bond by capillary action. The filler metals for brazing have a melting point which is below 840°F. Soldering is used extensively in plumbing and repair and manufacturing of electronics. It’s also widely used in the manufacturing and repair of jewelry.
Welding is a process which joins metals and requires the base metal to be melted and this forms the weld pool. In most cases, a filler metal, welding rod, or consumable wire is added to the weld pool to aid in producing a weld which has excellent mechanical properties.
MIG (GMAW) and TIG (GTAW), are two of the most popular and widely used welding processes. They are used extensively in the automotive, marine, nuclear, aerospace and oil industries.
